Product Description SolidWorks Bible is a comprehensive reference-tutorial that covers the basics, but then quickly ramps up to more advanced level topics. Every feature is thoroughly covered yet written in a way that makes learning this robust program seem non-threatening and uncomplicated. In a market full of books for beginners this is the one book that goes into extensive detail, not just on "how" the software works, but in many cases "why" it works the way it does. The author is well known in the SolidWorks community and uses SolidWorks on a daily basis as his main design tool in his contracting and consulting work. Many topics covered in SolidWorks Bible are not found in any other publication or even documentation directly from SolidWorks. Note: CD-ROM/DVD and other supplementary materials are not included as part of eBook file.

Awesome SolidWorks Reference February 6, 2009 K. Hardy 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is THE reference book that sits beside my keyboard. It goes beyond the how and gets to the why something is done. I can understand the process not just immitate it.
I also like the best practice suggestions from the author's real world experiences.
Lastly, the previous reviews aren't accurate and I disagree with them whole heartedly. This is a book worth having in your collection.
great depth of information February 6, 2009 SW guy 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've read previous versions of most of the other SW books sold here, and they all just skim the surface of the software. Lombard obviously knows his stuff, and knows it from actual use in real engineering work.
I like the conversational style, which I guess the other reviewer thought was "narcissistic".
What I liked most was the chapters on interface and visualization helped me make the leap from SolidWorks 2006 to 2009, where the interface is very different. I haven't read the whole book yet, but the chapters on multibodies, surfacing, plastics and sheet metal were way beyond what any of the other books cover. If you're a beginner, you might have to grow into this book, but if you've been using the software, there is nothing else that I've seen that even comes close.
This is an improvement over the Solidworks 2007 Bible, maybe half of it is new. Most of the screen shots look updated, I didn't find any screen shots that were obviously from older versions. Much of the stuff I found most valuable was new in this edition.
Great Seller November 16, 2009 Salvador (San Diego California) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
The book by itself is challenging but I like it that way.
I'm very satisfied with the whole process from this seller, exact description, Value, promptness,......etcetera.
Thanks a lot!

I purchased the surfacing book and the SW bible from Matt Lombard to prepare for my CSWP tests. They have been an invaluable asset for preparation and reference. Both books contain the most detailed and complete information about SW that could possibly be assembled. Matt's writing style isn't for everyone because he assumes his readers to be technical professionals, keenly interested in learning the software's highest functionality and capable and willing to research and practice the material on their own. They are not classroom books. Start with Planchard's books, then graduate to Lombard when you're ready to take it to the next level.

Excellent Reference February 27, 2009 Ronald Bolling (Texas) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
You wouldn't read this book cover to cover. It's not a step-by-step guide. But if you have a question about a topic, go and read the chapter on that topic, and the answer has got to be in there. What I like most about this book is that it covers a lot of "best practice" topics. I haven't seen that kind of stuff in any of the other SolidWorks or other CAD books I've read over the years. The approach lombard takes is different from the basic college text book, and it's not a hand-holding tutorial, but it is an excellent resource of knowledge and real world based tips.
